Manager – Communications and Public Engagement

The Research and Action Centre for Local Democracy (RACLD) is a non-profit organization committed to strengthening grassroots democracy and good governance in India.

Role Overview

We are seeking a passionate and creative Communication Executive to lead and manage the organization’s internal and external communications. The ideal candidate should have strong writing and storytelling skills, a commitment to social causes, and the ability to translate complex ideas on democracy and governance into engaging public content.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement RACLD’s communication and outreach strategy.
Manage and grow RACLD’s digital presence — website, newsletters, social media, and campaigns.
Document and present organizational initiatives, stories from the field, and research insights.
Design and coordinate communication for events, publications, and public campaigns.
Liaise with media, partners, and collaborators to enhance visibility and advocacy impact.
Ensure brand consistency and visual identity across all communication materials.
Support the leadership team in writing reports, concept notes, and thought pieces.

Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communication, Journalism, Development Studies, Public Policy, or related disciplines.
3–6 years of experience in communication, preferably in the social or development sector.
Excellent writing and storytelling skills in English (knowledge of Tamil is a strong advantage).
Ability to simplify and communicate research-based or policy content for diverse audiences
Experience in digital media management, content creation, and visual storytelling.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Remuneration

Commensurate with qualifications and experience, aligned with non-profit sector standards.
